Shared Path at Promenade linking Central to Wan Chai Promenade

The shared path is about 1 km long, which connects the Central Pier No. 10 and Wan Chai Temporary Promenade. The shared path is open to public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Please note that the bicycle rental service was ceased at the Shared Path. Citizens are welcomed to bring their own bicycles and enjoy cycling on the Shared Path.

Notes for the Shared Path

Shared Path users shall comply with relevant Ordinances and regulations, including but not limited to Cap. 132BC, Cap. 374, and the Road Users’ Code; follow the instructions of the keepers; and comply with the followings for maintaining safe and orderly operation of the Shared Path:

1 No person shall ride any vehicle on the Shared Path except bicycles, tricycles, scooters, perambulators and wheel-chairs propelled by hand.
2 No person shall ride any vehicle outside the Shared Path, except wheel-chairs or perambulators.
3 Bicycles and tricycles shall have white front lights and red rear lights shown and red rear reflectors installed when being used on the Shared Path during the hours of darkness or in poor visibility conditions.
4 Bicycles and tricycles shall be fitted with a bell capable of giving sufficient warning of the approach or presence of the vehicle.
5 Bicycles and tricycles shall be equipped with a braking system which shall be efficient and kept in proper working order.
6 Cyclists shall ride carefully and give due care and attention to and due consideration for other road users.
7 Cyclists shall give way to pedestrians.
8 No person shall cycle under the influence of drink or drugs.
9 Cyclists shall not carry any other person, animal or article which obstructs their view or prevents them from exercising complete control over their bicycles or tricycles.
10 Child under the age of 11 riding a bicycle or tricycle on the Shared Path shall be accompanied by an adult.
11 Cyclists shall proceed in single file except when overtaking.

The DO's
Cyclists should aware of your surroundings and stay vigilant, give way to pedestrians (especially children, elderly and those with limited mobility) and animals
Stop cycling immediately if there are too many pedestrians or pets nearby, or chance of an accident
Cycling near designated side with steady speed
While cycling at night or in poor visibility, a white lamp in the front and a red lamp at the rear must be switched on
Use the horn only when necessary
The DON'Ts
Do not exceed cycling speed of 15km/h as cyclists cannot stop immediately if a child or animal suddenly rushes out
Do not station your bicycle in the middle of the Shared Path causing obstruction
Do not ride bicycle outside the Shared Path
Do not carry passenger, or carry anything which might obstruct your view, affect your balance or complete control of your cycle
Do not wear earphones with high volume or use mobile device while cylcing
