Project Background

It has been the vision of Harbourfront Commission to develop a network of about 12 kilometers (km) long cycle track mainly located along the harbourfront areas between Sheung Wan to Shai Kei Wan of northern shore of Hong Kong Island (NHK). To take forward the proposal, Development Bureau commissioned a feasibility study to examine the feasibility of a continuous shared path in the promenade of NHK.

To facilitate the feasibility study, Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) launched a 12-month Shared Path Implementation Project at the Promenade from Central Pier No. 10 to the west of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Public can experience the promenade with Shared Path and the Government can assess the behavior of adding cycling activities to the existing promenade to obtain experience for design, management and promotion. Consultants will review the feedback and data collected from the public and use them as reference for the future incremental implementation of Shared Path on promenades along the NHK.
